Pastor Eric Tessaro received his first call to be a pastor upon his graduation from Concordia Seminary- St. Louis, from Trinity Lutheran Church. He and his family arrived in Springfield on July 24, 2006, two months after his long-awaited and successful graduation from Concordia Seminary, and our congregation celebrated his ordination and
installation service on July 30, 2006.
Pastor Tessaro’s father is also a pastor. His first call, received in 1982, was to be a Bible Translator in Nigeria, West Africa. In 1985, Pastor Tessaro who was seven years old, followed Mom and Dad to southern Nigeria where they began their work. Pastor Tessaro and his younger sister, Karla, attended a boarding school in a town called Jos, in northern Nigeria. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Jos, Nigeria in 1996. Pastor Tessaro enjoyed his years at the boarding school and remembers that he and his roommates once managed to convince their house-parents that they had a snake in their guinea-pig cage.
Running, baseball and golf are key to Pastor Tessaro’s enjoyment away from the church. He attended college at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and while he is a Ferris Bulldog hockey fan, Michigan Football draws much of his attention for a quarter of the year.
In Grand Rapids, Michigan, Pastor Tessaro met his wife Sarah, who was teaching 3rd Grade at Immanuel-St. James Lutheran School. After movies, walks in the park, road trips, sledding in the snow and a couple hockey games, they were married at St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch, MI. in 2003. They have two children, two boys, whose names are Ethan and Aidan.

Pastor Tessaro is the Associate Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church.
