A Pastor's Blog?! - by eric tessaro

Do we dare?  What do you think?

We're catching up with the wave!

I considered for a while whether blogging would be a good idea or not; especially for a pastor.  It's not a matter of technophobia nor do I concern myself with those who purport the apocolyptic doom that the computer will make inevitable.  No, my hesitation stemmed from a willingness to write and to make public what I've been thinking about from day to day.  It would be easy to put on a facade and advertise goings-on at the church, which as you can see I've already done.  But to maintain personal integrity, writing truthfully and honestly about what I've been thinking about and wanting to write about, via a professional medium- our church webpage, could create a conflict of interest; namely my own.

Nevertheless, I've decided to undertake the task for a number of reasons.  At first blush, blogging may seem to be an extremely narcissistic activity.  After all it's my blog, I write what I want to say, view and respond to the comments I wish, and so far almot every sentence has begun with "I"--what do you know?!- my blog may achieve my goal!

That's not why I'm beginning a blog.  The aim of the blog is to encourage interest in our website, to stimulate dialogue about what is going on at our church, in Springfield, around our country, and perhaps even in our lives!!

This blog is not about me-- it's about US!  It's about what WE can talk about, what WE are thinking, what ideas WE can toss around, what causes WE want to consider.  This blog can also serve as a forum for the classical "stump the pastor."  Ask a question, raise an issue, I'll aim to give a response--although be forewarned it may take a while.

You're invited to blog city- Trinity style.  Welcome!  Let the forum begin!

Welcome pastor. I think this will be great! I look forward to reading what you have to say and maybe I'll add something here and there, too.

The only thing I can contribute now is that we got our fifth grandchild Sunday born to our son and daughter-in-law in OKC, a red-headed boy named Thomas.

Dona and I feel so blessed to have five healthy grandchildren. I thank God every day for them and pray for them every night.

We are all going to be together this weekend.

Steve
